“Wish you a Happy New Year!” – What a cliché!
It depends how you look at it
Whether forward to future
Or backward to past
A future of hope
Or of fear
A past of losses
Or of gains
Looking to years ahead
Or to those gone
A future to dream
Or a past to forget.
Pausing at the crossroads
Looking up and looking down
Turning left and turning right
Knowing that happiness lie
Not in the future nor in the past
But right at the point where you are.
Hoping for changes
Or praying for none –
But knowing, in one’s heart
That the needle will flick – rightward,
Irrespective of how you look at it.

Bang on!! Peeping into reality. Most times; we dwell in the past or try to peek into the future forgetting to live the present.
What a way to start 2011 :-)
happy new year to you toooo :-)
ReplyDeletethe concept of the "year" itself is like drawing on water, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteForget the past, can we, should we??May be yes , may be not. (Some one asked me to identify the ten happy matters of the past. And I said ten large drinks on the rocks or with soda).
Turning hither and thither for happiness- I guess knowing that the mirage we look for is not in the future but here at the moment and in our state of mind!
Liked your lines.
Afterall, what is real in life !
ReplyDeleteThere is only one reality in life after birth. That is death. The rest is all'Maya'.
Happiness doesnt wait at the end of the road.Learn to relish tiny bites of it all along.
Wishing you a successful New Year.
