Venom

The tentacles of a jelly fish

The fang of a snake

The stinger of a scorpion,

The barb in your tongue –

They use it for self-defense.

You, however,

Lashes it left and right

Only to hurt others –

And unaware that

Its final victim is you.

Use your tongue - wisely.

  6. I loved it.The last one would top the list of the most venomous. As a doctor I would say,we could treat some of these envenomations ,except that from the tongue. The damages are irreversible.I just wrote a blog on my site.Have a look if time permits.

  8. @ALL: At times, I too have been mean to people; I have always regretted it later. It is not meant for anyone particular; I could be telling myself, or Parvati, or anyone who hurts with the tongue. I guess we all do, some time or other, don't we?

@Insignia: I know. Thats the power of language, isn't it? Scary and fascinating. I wrote it without anyone in my mind; maybe myself, at some unforgivable moment that I erred...
When you get time, see some of my earliest posts, poems, which later came in a book. Strong medicine! :)

@Doc: Glad you liked it. Will check them out.
