Twisting and turning
Speeding and slowing
Through the labyrinth of streets
Braving the noise, the crowds
Boxed in by tall buildings
The bike rushes as if to escape-
Suffocated, nearly strangled.
It climbs a flyover
Higher, over the lowly lot
A blooming Gulmohar
By the side, smiling
And then – a patch of sky –
Bright, white
And farther, a deep blue.

ReplyDeleteForgot. That was Neil Diamond? I used to listen to it when I was a medical student..1974,75?.You brought memories back.
ReplyDeleteWow! beautifully said.
ReplyDelete@Dr.Antony: Trite as it might be, the analogy between journeys and life is always fascinating; one keeps on discovering new meanings into it. Like I have said somewhere else, there is nothing new in life; only one's interpretation and understanding is different and novel. For me, it actually happened at the new flyover in Trivandrum. As I saw the little bit of sky, I had this wonderful feeling...
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked Neil Diamond. Yes 'Sweet Caroline'. Our old times....
@Rajesh: Thanks!
And thats my baby on the pic, en route Ladakh, in 2007! :)
